The “Country Profiles for Early Childhood Development” are developed by UNICEF in collaboration with “Countdown to 2030 Women’s, Children’s and Adolescent’s Health”.

An initial set of 91 country profiles was released in May 2018, alongside the launch of the Nurturing Care Framework. Subsequently, a decision was made to expand and update the profiles for 138 low- and middle-income countries in 2019. In 2020, the existing profiles for 138 countries were updated, and new profiles were developed for 59 high-income countries, yielding profiles for 197 countries. These profiles were updated in 2021 and, most recently, in 2023.
