Shelter centers managed by the “Juzoor Foundation for Health and Social Development” in northern Gaza were directly targeted by Israeli bombardment, causing panic and chaos among the families residing there and endangering the safety of children, women, and the elderly who sought refuge in it.
The Israeli attacks also extended to medical points operated by “Juzoor” since the outbreak of the conflict, which provide medical support to the displaced. The bombardment resulted in the destruction of medical equipment, the burning of medicines, and the devastation of the organization’s warehouses containing essential food and medical supplies. Several staff members sustained serious injuries and were transferred to hospitals for necessary treatment. In response, “Juzoor” had to reorganize its teams’ operations at their current locations to ensure the continuation of services.
Furthermore, “Juzoor” urgently appealed to the international community and humanitarian organizations to take immediate action to protect civilians and ensure the safety of the shelters, which have become direct targets. It also called for the establishment of safe corridors to facilitate the evacuation of the wounded and displaced and the provision of emergency medical assistance, as the humanitarian crisis in northern Gaza deepens.
In this context, and on the anniversary of the genocide in Gaza and the Israeli war on Lebanon, the “Palestinian Network for Early Childhood” has reiterated its calls for urgent action to protect children and mitigate the catastrophic impacts on them.
In its call to action, the network emphasised that the Israeli aggression on Gaza and Lebanon poses a severe threat to children’s lives and futures, urging UN agencies to fulfil their responsibilities toward children according to international laws and statutes.
